Better Than Soft Scrub Empty Better Than Soft Scrub

Ok so I love making my own cleaning supplies (yes you really can). I notice the mainstream cleaners in stores give me a headache (except for bleach), so had to look for something else.

So on my quest for better, safer things to use, I found this recipe for an imitation soft scrub recipe, which actually works better than soft scrub IMO:

1/4 c. liquid castile soap (it has to be liquid castile or it won't work)
3/4 - 1 c. baking soda
1 tbsp. water
15 - 30 drops of disinfecting essential oil such as tea tree oil
1 tbsp. white distilled vinegar

In a smaller mixing bowl, add your soap, baking soda, water, & essential oils. Mix until well - blended. Next, add your vinegar & mix until smooth. Transfer into an airtight container, as this mix will dry up if not correctly stored.

Notes:

I have tried this recipe with regular dish soap and it was a huge fail. So realized that it was essential to have the castile soap.

I purchase liquid castile soap that already has tea tree oil so I omit that part of the recipe. You can choose any kind of scented castile soap or you can choose to use the unscented and add your own oils. It's up to you.

Just a little warning - when adding the vinegar, you will see lots of bubbling, but that's completely normal. Just blend really well and the bubbling will subside. This bubbling is caused by a chemical reaction between the vinegar & baking soda.

Oh...if you have sensitive or dry skin, please use gloves. While this mixture is not harmful, if you use it extensively, it does have a tendency to dry your hands out.
